Interviewing Skills of Minors
STC Certification Number: 5291-068233 Course Length: 8 hours
This is a unique course for Probation personnel conducting
interviews with minors. The course will examine interview verses interrogation
and how this topic pertains to interviewing minors. Juvenile laws will be
discussed along with current case law on Miranda Rights involving Juveniles and
the applicable case decisions. The importance of understanding of the cultural
influences on minors, outside influences and trends, and the adolescent brain
development explained. Examples of effective communication skills of minors and
how to initiate interviews will be followed by communication exercises.
