This course includes the history, awareness, and identification of criminal street gang members. An emphasis is placed on understanding why juveniles join gangs and identifying current trends. The importance of documenting gang members and understanding gang enhancements under P.C. 186.22 will be examined. Officer safety issues when contacting gang members will also be discussed.
