Our certification program consists of two 8 hours courses. A written examination is also required for certification. Upon completion of the requirements, we will certify you as a “Certified Gang Enforcement Officer”. Course includes a Basic Gang Investigation & Enforcement Manual.

Day One – Gang Enforcement:

This course focuses on the foundation of the identification and documentation of gang members both on the streets and in custodial settings. The instruction will include the legal foundation to file and prosecute gang members, an explanation and understanding of PC 186.22(a) gang enhancements and everything you need to know to be successful. Officer Safety issues during contacts, the importance of properly documenting gang members, associates and facilitators through tattoos, paraphernalia and other indicia will be discussed. The instruction will also include current street and custody trends such as politics, communication, control, narcotic sales, taxing and assaults.


Day Two – Gang Investigations:

This course supplements the Enforcement course and places and emphasis on the investigation aspects of gang contacts, gang injunctions, debriefing and gathering intelligence for multiples sources, cultivating informants, PC 186.30 (gang registrations), how gangs use social media and conducting searches of gang members and associates. This course will also examine the use of databases, prior contacts (Field Interview and Gang Cards) and Gang Supplements. The legal requirements and other considerations when contacting Juveniles during gang investigations will also be discussed.

Cancellation Policy:

If Serrato and Associates cancels the course, the full amount of tuition will be refunded or the tuition can be credited to a future course.

If the student/agency cancels prior to 48-hours before the course, the full amount of tuition will be refunded or the tuition can be credited to a future course.  

If the student/agency cancels less than 48-hours prior to the course the tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE. However, the tuition can be credited to a future course.  

If the student "NO SHOWS" the course tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE.  However, the tuition can be credited to a future course. 

For conferences or symposiums, the cancelation refund policy is extended to five (5) business days.

In lieu of cancellation you may transfer your registration to another person without penalty. Cancellations must be made in writing by email to rick@serratotraining.com.
